Hobsons Bay Junior Coaching 2026 Term 1

We’re excited to announce that registrations for HBCC Junior Chess Coaching is now open for 2026 Term 1!

Over the past few months, we have carefully re-designed our coaching framework to introduce greater structure, clearer learning pathways, and increased rigor, bringing our program in line with industry-wide best coaching practices. 

Also introducing a new and re-vamped coaching team, with four top-performing players from the HBCC Open section (more details here). These experienced competitors bring strong playing credentials, modern training methods and firsthand tournament experience, ensuring students receive high-quality instruction that connects theory with practical play.

We are also bringing coaching back closer to home to Hobson’s Bay Chess Club Altona venue (not Laverton). We finalised timings such that coaching students can participate in Rookies and Junior tournaments.

Whether your child was already enrolled in the 2025 Junior Coaching program or is looking to make a fresh start in 2026, simply sign-up to secure a spot. HBCC members receive additional discounts! 

PS: 'Advanced' students classes start at 4:30pm.
